Curtains are one of the first things you buy for your home.
They are the cherry on top to your décor. They add warmth, comfort and love into a space. Not to mention, are an immediate essential for blocking out light and adding necessary privacy.
Here are some suggestions to think about when choosing curtains:
Colour Makes The World Go Round
When it comes to colour, the world is your oyster. One can go with the classic style of white or neutral shades. These fit naturally into any kind of decorated room even if you have scribbles on the wall. They are particularly easy on the eyes and bring natural light in as well.
But if you want to “flip the page” and go with plain neutral-coloured furniture, but add a sudden pop of colour or texture, we are totally for it!

The Mood Of The Room
Minimalism is becoming an increasing trend in all areas of living; people are more selective about what stuff they bring into their homes. The desire for practicality supports simplicity.
Minimalist or simple curtains are often chosen to avoid clutter and create a soothing space. Especially If there is elaborate décor, this might be preferred.
Curtains For The Bedroom VS The Living Room
The bedroom is a place of rest and thus calming tones often work best. Consider choosing shades in a single palette. One needs to be cautious of choosing fabrics with elaborate patterns. Also choose fabrics that are less prone to dust and are easy to clean.
According to eDecorTrends, curtains need to be purchased with an eye to the design style and furniture, colour scheme and wall.

Fabrics That Require Maintenance
The fabric you choose will be determined by how often you need to clean your curtains.
It is recommended that curtains should be washed every 3-6 months, however there are fabrics that require a bit more care. If you are looking for curtains that need to be washed only twice a year, then go for cotton or synthetic fabrics. These can even be machine-washed if they are unlined or if they are lined, give them a quick hand wash.
High maintenance fabrics include pleats that must be dry cleaned. Wool, silk and sheer must be dry cleaned or hand washed in cold water to keep them in a good condition.
At Creators Studio, we have a range of polyester curtain fabrics that are easy to maintain and are an excellent choice if you are looking for durability. It is not required for this fabric to be cleaned regularly and it does not need to be ironed.
Thickness Of The Material Or Fabric
This is the deciding factor for how much privacy and light you would like in your room. People often opt for thicker fabrics in their bedroom to block out light. Lighter fabrics are chosen for living rooms that allow for privacy, but still bring in light into the room.
In addition, heavier or thicker fabrics work better in cooler climates as they insulate the room.
Thinner fabrics work best in warmer climates. For example, you could choose our 100% taped block out curtains for a heavier curtain option.
